Please join us for our next Professional
Development Meeting (PDM) on October 13, 2009 for a discussion lead by
Gary W. Capone
of
Palladian International entitled:
Social Media for
Operations Professionals
Social
media websites offer a tremendous opportunity for networking,
professional development and career advancement. They can also help you
solve problems in your company. Social media is like a giant
multinational consulting firm, with experts in every field, at your
disposal at the drop of a hat. And you can have access to this resource
for free.
Despite the
benefits, many operations professionals have been reluctant to jump on
the bandwagon. They see social media as a waste of time, a game or
nothing but entertainment. Social media can be all of these things, but
it can also be much more. There are substantive benefits to these tools
if you know how to use them. Fortunately, getting started with social
media and using it to deliver significant results can be easy.
This
presentation will teach you how to use these social media tools as
effective resources. We will answer the following questions:
· What
is social media?
·
How can social media help you find solutions at work?
·
How can social media help you find strategic partners,
vendors or customers?
·
How can social media help your professional development?
·
How can social media help your career advancement?
·
What do you do to get started?
