The Ten Principles
of Operations Management
Developments like MRP, MRP II, CIM, and FMS seem to come into the field
of Operations Management with a bang– and go out with a whimper.
Furthermore, there have been too many failures where there should have
been success. We argue that many of these failures were caused by
the violation of one or more of the ten “principles” of Operations
Management. These principles are timeless. Our message is
simple: respect them and violate them at your own peril.
